July 2022 Valley meal

We always have a good turnout for the July dinner, which is always hotdogs & hamburgers cooked on Calvin's grill. Don received 28 'yes' RSVPs by the cuttoff date and a couple more after. We served 38 plates so attention to RSVPing is falling off. We continue to have a problem with brothers trying to get started on the meal before the blessing is said, before we have the line fully set up. We had a couple brothers treat the hot dog chili as an entree, loading half their plate with it.

We served 40 hamburgers and 47 hotdogs. We ran short on baked beans, had plenty of everything else.

We charged $13.00 per plate for the meal.

We are low on aluminum hotel pans (both sizes), plates and napkins.

KSA handled money collection. No problems other than people trying to pay/get plates early. The only issue with having KSA collect the money is dealing with late arriving brothers – there are always a few.

Cleanup after the meal went pretty well. KSA did an excellent job of helping during the meal and afterward.

Hauling the trash away continues to be a hassle, need to get someone to volunteer to be garbageman when assigning dishes/tasks for the month.

We gave the Rainbow Girls $100 for help with setup, serving and cleanup. They did most of the cleanup while the Valley members were in the meeting.

We should have taken in 38 x $13.00, or $494. After paying expenses, including Rainbow Girls, we should have had $168.00 left. We actually had $160.00, so only off by $8.00. The $160 was put in the ‘bank’ envelope to pay for replenishing hotel trays, plates, etc.
