May 2022 Valley meal
The May meal had a large turnout, we were conferring the 32nd Degree so had the whole class plus cast members who don’t usually show up. RSVP was 42, with 2 of those coming after shopping and some cooking had been done. We served 44 plates.
Earl made Italian Beef au jus, with pepperocini and rolls. He bought 31 lb. of meat and had 6 lb or appx 20% of it left over. He bought 54 rolls and had about a dozen left over.
Keith made baked beans with 2 117 oz cans and 3 28 oz cans. Appx. 2 of the 28 oz cans left over.
Calvin brought 2 gallon containers of ice cream, we had about ¾ of a gallon left from previous meal. Used the ¾ gallon and one of the new containers.
Barry brought 2 bags of ice, both were used.
Alan brought a bunch of containers of sweet tea, lots left over.
We found that all of our large aluminum hotel pans had been used by some other group(s).
KSA handled money collection. Having one person make change and another separate and hand out plates worked well.
Cleanup after the meal went pretty well. KSA did wipedown of tables and put chairs up on tables. Shortly after they finished that the class came in to use the dining room for the classroom portion of the degree. We had to interrupt the lecturer (Aaron Byrd) because he was set up in front of the closet door. I am afraid we were a major distraction for them and they slowed down cleanup, especially mopping the floor after they left. We need to coordinate with the class herders and try doing the lecture in the front hall as Don B. suggested.
Hauling the trash away continues to be a hassle, need to get someone to volunteer to be garbageman when assigning dishes/tasks for the month.
