Instructions

In a medium pot, mix together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.
In a large pot, add sugar to the margarine slowly, and cream together.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
Beat in the vanilla and coffee extract.
Add the flour mixture alternately with the sour cream. Begin and end with the flour. Blend well after each addition.

Transfer about 1/3 batter to a small pot and blend in espresso mixture thoroughly.
Spoon 1/2 plain batter into a well greased 10" Dutch oven lined with parchment.
Spoon coffee batter over the plain, spreading evenly.
Spoon remaining plain batter and spread evenly.
Place 5 -7coals beneath the DO, distributed around the edges and 12-15 on the lid, evenly distributed
Bake at 350 for 1/2 to 1 hour. Check the cake frequently,
Let cool for 30 minutes, then turn out to cool completely

Mix glaze ingredients together and pour over cake. Let stand for 10 minutes to let glaze set. Serve warm.

Notes

The java layer is really liquid. Adding some flour might help a lot. Hard to divide the dough into 1/3rds. Could increase the java layer by 1/2 even for a 10" DO. I used the Rule of 3s (7 coals on bottom of 10" DO, 13 on top. Rotated it every 5-15 min, bottom uniformly slightly burned. I used the "dry toothpick" test but should haver removed it from the DO earlier.

What about adding some apple slices?

Glaze starts out very watery - maybe mix of ice & water for the espresso>? Most recent time I made this I didn't have any problem with watery glaze, just let it sit a bit.

The glaze was awfully sweet, add some espresso essence to it next time

Yummy . Stirong hints of chocolate even though there's none in the recipe.
